The current course of Gateway runs through the end of this year.  The Training center classes will resume after that – probably January 2009.

We plan to offer “Principles of Teaching” in the fall, in a location central to Steven’s Point, Sparta and Madison.  Contact us for more details.

The EFCA Urban and Intercultural Ministries has developed a program called Gateway, which is designed to get pastors of spanish speaking churches on a track toward ordiantion with the EFCA.  Check the EFCA website for details – http://www.efca.org/urban/gateway/index.html

Training Center

Posted by freshread on March 15, 2007

11 students completed the first course, Spiritual Formation.  This is better than what we expected.

The second semester will offer a course “Introduction to the New Testament”, which will run from March 17 through June 30.  This course will be taught in Madison at Bethany EFC with instruction by Pastor Rayo and Steve Turley, member at Door Creek Church.

We hope to offer courses in two location, Tomah and Madison, in the Fall of 2007.  We are looking for more instructors.  We have eager students, what we lack are those who can teach the courses.  What is best is to have two teachers to share a course.  It is very helpful to be fluent in Spanish, but it is also possible to provide translation.  If you or someone you know is a possible candidate, let us know.

Training Center – First Sememster Complete

Posted by freshread on February 14, 2007

The Training Center had a very good first semester.  15 students completed the course on Spiritual Formation, which met weekly at Bethany EFC in Madison.

The students would like to have the next semester’s classes take place by Sparta or Norwalk.  We are lining up a teacher who can partner with Pastor Rayo to offer a course entitled “New Testament Overview”.    We have contacted one pastor who is praying about the possibility.

You can help by praying for these students and teachers.  We are trying to train fugure leaders, and who knows, future pastors and church planters.

Thanks to God for a very good first sememster.

book.jpg Each student prepares during the week by studying the Scriptures and the textbook – in this case, “Spiritual Formation” (“Formacion Espiritual”).

students.jpg The classes involve both lectures and discussion among the students.

students2.jpg Pray for this effort.  We are looking for teachers – what is best is Pastors who are bilingual, but we are flexible on that.  A pastor, teacher or missionary who is able to teach could teach by translation.  We are hoping to open a site in the Norwalk/Sparta area.

A Good Start for the Training Center

Posted by freshread on November 26, 2006

The Training Center in Madison started up again on November 18.  There are now 15 students registered from La Cosecha (Harvest Church) and Nueva Vida (New Life Church).  This is great news and exceeds our expectations for this class.

The current course is Spiritual Formation (Formacion Espiritual) and is being taught by Steve Turley, a member of Door Creek Church, and Adrian Rayo, Pastor at Nueva Vida.

Note that we are on the look out for others qualified to teach – considerations are experience, fluency in Spanish(helpful but not required) and educational background.  If you know someone or are someone who could help us, let us know.
