Retire the Debt – Nueva Vida

Posted by freshread on August 18, 2009

Over the course of planting Nueva Vida (New Life Church) the church has built up a deficit.  The church is currently operating within it’s budget, which combines member giving, support from area churches and individuals.

We are hoping to retire a debt of about $30,000 by the end of the year.  Already a gift to our district for Latino church planing has been designated to this total, so we will be trying to raise about $12,000 by the end of 2009.  If you would like more information contact us.

If you would like to help, send a check marked “Nueva Vida debt” to:

Holiday Greetings from Nueva Vida

Posted by freshread on January 9, 2009

“Jehovah es mi pastor  nada me faltara.” (Salmo 23:1)

This year was of great blessing for both my family and the church.

Praise:  This December, God has shown us, once again, his great love and mercy. We have seen him at work in our lives through a prayer of my oldest daughter Shared.  One day my daughter, Shared, came excitedly into the house. She was exited to go on a mission trip to Mexico with a group called YWAM (Youth With a Mission). She is currently a student studying in UW Madison. So, as she told us about this trip, I began to think, how are we going to pay for this? We have had to pay the schooling so far because she had not been able to acquire a scholarship to pay the semester. Also we still needed to find out how to pay for the next semester of schooling. I wondered were would we get the money to cover for the trip? I did not believe it was possible. I told them. “No, not this time. We cannot think about that right now when we have lots of things to pay for.”

Then my wife, Maria, told us to pray about the situation. She said “Why don’t we see what God says about this.” I said okay we have nothing to lose. In that moment, we prayed for God’s will to be done. We said “If you need to teach my daughter in this trip to Mexico something special please Lord provide for this trip.” With only one day left before registration for the trip she recieved a 8,500 dollar scholarship from FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). From that money she was able to pay the whole year of school and had money left to go on the trip to Mexico.

We praise the Lord for providing this need. We hope this testimony will encourage anyone to first come to the lord when in need of guidance and provision. In these hard economic times we hope that you will thank the lord for his helping hand in our daily lives.

Last year:  We finished with 25 members in New Life church 35 in attendance on Sundays, with a team of 6 leaders and 8 students in GATEWAY and all the people hungry to know more about our Lord Jesus Christ.

We are planning to start 10 new church Plants this year 2009 in Wisconsin

Here are some things you can pray about.

  • For our own place to meet.
  • For new believers to continue to come to the Lord.
  • For spiritual growth
  • For students attending the Gateway program.
  • For financial stability in New Life Church. We have included an envelope addressed to the Forest Lakes District,  if you are able to support our work
  • For my Family.

                        Sincerely,

Adrian Rayo

Nueva Vida Joins the Forest Lake’s District

Posted by freshread on April 30, 2008

On February 24 New Life Church (Iglesia Nueva Vida) transitioned from a church plant to a congregation by holding a charter membership Sunday, where they also voted in a constitution and church officers.  On April 18 Nueva Vida was welcomed formally into membership of the Forest Lakes District of the EFCA.

Next?  Growth (through cell groups) and outreach.

Charter Membership Sunday – Nueva Vida

Posted by freshread on February 15, 2008

After several years of prayer and work, Nueva Vida is ready to have a Charter Membership Sunday.  This marks the transition from being a Church Plant to being a Church.  The members will approve a constitution and select leaders for the church.  We anticipate Nueva Vida entering the Forest Lakes District as a full member congregation.

Those who have supported Nueva Vida and Pastor Rayo should continue, because due to the special nature of this church, it will need supporters for longer than is customary for “anglo” church plants.

Also, plans are afoot to start other churches in our district – this is a movement, not just a church plant.
