Adrian Recieves Award

Posted by freshread on August 1, 2008

Pastor Rayo received the Intercultural Chruch Planter of the Year award at the EFCA National Conference in St. Louis this year.  Here is the writeup:

Here is the report from national conference:

In 1997, God gave Adrian Rayo the opportunity to travel from Chicago to Sparta, WI, to preach to a new group of Hispanic who hoped to become a church plant out of Faith Evangelical Free Church.  This group had only been meeting for a few weeks.  For six months Adrian loaded his family of five into their van for the six-hour trop to Wisconsin.  Seeing God bring several to faith in Christ affirmed to Adrian that he should leave his secular job and begin to devote himself to full-time ministry.  In 1988, he stepped out in faith and moved to Norwalk, where the church would locate.  God raised up support for Adrian’s family through many area churches in the Forest Lakes District.

Through the six years of Adrian’s ministry in Norwalk, dozens trusted in Christ and were developed as disciples.  Funds were raised to purchase their own facility.  One of the new converts from El Salvador, Jose Reyes, became so well trained in ministry, that he followed Adrian as pastor of La Cosecha which now has more than 90 members in attendance.

Following a year of traveling to Madison, WI, one day a week fo evangelize, Adrian and Marian moved their family to Sun Prairie to plant another church.  Again many were converted to Christ, and Nueva Vida was welcomed into the district as a full-member church in April 2008.

In addition to always being eager to share Christ, Adrian has a large vision for multiplying Latino churches throughout Wisconsin and beyond.  He is regular contact with several Latino church planters and Forest Lakes District churches who want to start new works. He is also taking five men from his church through the GATEWAY Theological Institute.  GATEWAY was started by the EFCA to offer practical and accessible theological training for pastors who lack the time and resources to access traditional seminary education.

So much of the apostolic vision for a true movement of multiplication “among all people” has flowed out of Adrian’s heart.  The Forest Lakes District is truly blessed to be able to work with this godly leader.”

Praise the Lord!
